We have an RB who is flirting with Smart's Dawghouse.

As many coaches have preached, of all the abilities to be a fine football player, more so than speed ability, or strength ability, or quickness ability, or mental ability, is the all-important: AVAILABILITY.

I started playing serious football in the 6th grade. A helmet hit my right thigh a few inches above my knee. Good Lord, did it hurt. I limped for a week. I whined, and my mom took me to the doctor. He said it was a subcutaneous hematoma that was dangerous. He said don't play for two weeks; return for another exam, and maybe I could play then.

My coach ridiculed me, hit me in the head with his class ring from FSU, and cursed me daily. The Doc wrote him a letter that my mom hand-delivered.

I just could not deal with the pain and fear. So I quit the team. I was blasted by my ex-teammates, ex-girlfriends, and some teachers.

The coach was not recontracted. I rejoined the squad in the 7th grade. I started as a freshman on the 9th-grade high school varsity. Maybe I became tougher or luckier.

But I had to play through a lot of pain and fear.

Maybe our wounded RB will toughen up, Buttercup, as I was taunted to do. Millions are at stake for him.

yes, let's send our RB out with a rib injury and have him get popped and be out even longer with Bama and FLA coming up within the month.

Fine post of your opinion, but Coach Smart and our Docs & Trainers disagree with you.

The issue is "can he play with pain"; everybody hurts in football, and some overcome the agony and excel. Can this RB? He declines to try.

Silly post of your apparent opinion, but Coach Smart and our Docs & Trainers disagree with you.

I usually try to ignore this commie's post, but this one is sort of beyond the pale and screams for a response.

Why would a player with an injury, a real injury, "play with pain", if he isn't crucial to winning a game? The worst thing the player might accomplish is aggravating the injury and making it more serious, thus causing the player to lose even more playing time. The best would be, he plays in a game where his participation doesn't affect the outcome of the game. I see no upside for Frazier if he sits out when he doesn't have to.

So far, if I were to believe everything posted by this guy, we would have been struggling to win against anyone we have played so far. Every post is some "inside information" about a player or players who are terrible and how unhappy Kirby is with pretty much every aspect of the team.

Easiest way to get seriously injured for the rest of the year is to try to 'play through the pain' when there is no reason to. Did anyone think OU was gonna beat us? Anyone serious? So if you are 100% positive about this we should have Donte Dowdell out there playing as well just to see if he can play through the pain.
