He received the Dewey Dean Employee of the Year Award in May 2011 after being given the honor by UGA athletic director Greg McGarity. Barrow also received one of the Employee of the Quarter honors during that same calendar year.

Before interning at Georgia, Barrow interned for Fox Sports Network South (Atlanta, Ga.) in the Public Relations Department.

Barrow began his career as a sports writer at The Union-Recorder newspaper in Milledgeville, Ga., from February 2002 to April 2004.

All of these HS kids say pretty much the same things at their self aggrandizing announcement ceremonies or interviews. I didn't listen to or ready any of his statement but I'm sure it included the following cliches.

"Texas felt like family".

"My relationship with the coaches was a big thing for me. Coach __________ and I talked a lot. We talked about a lot of things, not just football".
