This game was circled by many pre-season as an L or, at least a really tough one. However, OKie hasn't been impressive with their season start and has a couple of massive injuries. By all accounts, they'll be missing their best OL (LT) and best DL in this game. Rumors are their C won't play either. Still, even with all that, it's hard to get a read on how this game will go.
If there's no "funny business", turnovers, long special teams TD's, pick 6's, and other stuff, I'd expect to see a 35-17 type score. But, I also wouldn't be surprised if we drop 40+ on these guys if things are clicking. Keeping Matear in check will be important...he's looked rough so far, but, he has the skill to hurt our secondary and they do have a couple of very talented receivers. Still, I think he may be running for his life if he hangs on to it at all. We still won't get Chase Linton back this week...still, I think our pass rush may look the best it's been so far.
Nate will be on a pitch count with his ribs...it's a pain tolerance and he hasn't practiced much this week. If he's able to deal with the pain, he may play a good bit. But, I expect we'll get a large dose of Bowens and some of the back ups.
All that said, I kind of expect the Boa constrictor type game that's been talked about. We will get up a couple of scores and just play bully ball in the second half. I hope we hit one or two big ones and the game isn't close...we'll see.

My biggest concern is Mateer picking us apart. Once again, our DBs seem to allow a lot of what appear to be easy receptions and our lack of pass rush woes continue. It would be the most Georgia thing ever for Mateer to have his resurgence game against us. I've seen too many QBs look like they have a lock on the Heisman playing against us to be comfortable about Mateer.
I'd be perfectly happy with a 35-17 type game. I don't see us putting up 40+. The OU D looks pretty stout and Venables will probably pretty much know every play Bobo is going to run before he calls it, Bobo is nothing if not predictable. Our OL vs. their DL should be quite the matchup. If we get up a couple of scores and can run effectively, I'll be happy with a boa constrictor type game.

I like our Dawgs chances. Coach K and defense coaches are likely to show Mateer some looks he aint seen before that'll make his head spin. We got'em at home; it'll be impossible for their offense to audible. If Coach Bobo will remember Coach Satan's mantra "think Players, not Plays!" I think he can call a great game. Some of his famous failures ,not running Tod Gurley v USC Jr when we were first and goal at the 5 yd line and running Cash vs Tide , happen when he thinks Plays, not Players. Maybe he's learned ; or maybe he's too proud to learn and thinks he's so smart he can out scheme the opponent; I just don't know. He's had plenty of time to change and we are still getting these head scratching plays in critical situations; what looks like trying to "wrong foot" the opponent with trickeration instead of matching our best guy against their whatever guy. Coach Bobo is one damn good Dawg ; I wish he would trust his playmakers more.

I think OU will try and play keep-away and drain the clock. My guess is Kirby leans into that and tasks Bobo with a low risk game plan and tries to out manball them. 17-10 Dawgs and the Bobo haters will be sharpening their pitchforks afterwards.

I will be disappointed if Kirby lets Venables dictate what kind of game he plays. I'd rather see Kirby want to force the OU O, which has been pretty bad so far, into a situation where they are having to match us scoring.
I do think this is a prime opportunity game for Bobo to shit the bed.

This game and the one in two weeks are make or break games for the season.
2-0 DAWGS are sitting pretty.
1-1 every remaining game becomes a must win to be a serious playoff contender.
0-2 might as well start looking forward to 2027
I honestly think Bobo craps the bed in one of them and calls a terrible game.
Hope the talent can overcome his failures.

Even under Kirby, this team has shown struggles, especially the last 2 seasons. OU will probably come out on fire (I hope they don't) and make this game a nail biter. I expect a UGA win, but one can never tell for sure.

We do play at Dooley Field ,so we old fans are haunted with the inadequacies of Dooley Ball ,keep it close and hope your opponent makes a mistake so you can steal a win. Coach K is more bloody minded offensively, but he just cannot make himself recruit the players it takes to stretch the field like Bama rolls out year after year to break our hearts. Complementary football is his game, and a lot of wins is the proof of concept. I wouldn't fuss about a 17-10 win over the land rush claim jumping yt trash sooners. A win is still a win, baby!
