Lost a high school classmate this week that was the sweetest girl
#1
Ran a flower shop in Rossville for 30 years she and her brother inherited from their parents.  Was also, along with her husband, coaches for a girl's traveling softball team.

She wasn't a class officer, but she was the person who organized all our class reunions as none of our class officers stayed local after graduating.
She would have turned 70 this Saturday.

She sat down to watch a movie with her husband and one of her adult daughters, fell asleep and never woke up.
The family didn't know of any health issues.

On a positive note she was vocal about her faith and love of Jesus and a member of Peavine Baptist Church in this area.  So we get to see her again someday.

What a great way to go. If only we could all be so lucky. May she rest in peace.

I tend to forget how old I have gotten until I hear about people who were my contemporaries growing up dying. I don't see many people I went to HS with, so, in my mind, they all still look like they did 45+ years ago.

Yep. Beside Debbie in our class,  3 more people that were Freshmen or Sophomores when I was a Senior have died in the last 2 weeks, according to our Rossville High School Memorial page on Facebook.
Now that I am a month from being 70, 70 don’t seem so old anymore until I see all these folks dying.

Beginning to understand, before dementia overtook her, why a goodly portion of mom’s social life revolved around funeral homes in her mid to late 70s.

I talked to a customer/friend yesterday who told me he had been really tied up with him mother because she was dying.  We talked a little while about her and what was going on and how sorry I was and I asked him how old she is.  He said she is 67 (he is 50, she had him young).  I was stunned, I'm 65 and, like you, I don't think of 70 as being all that old anymore.

I'm trying to stay in at least decent shape so I hopefully won't end up like so many older people I've seen over the years whose lives consist of nothing but funerals and doctor visits.

I'd rather be the oldest guy in the gym than the youngest guy in the nursing home.  Not setting any personal records in the gym anymore, but doing my best to maintain muscle, and do a bunch of balance and core exercises.
