Hypothesis on college football players and their mommas...
#1
I think there's a direct correlation between players that have these "baby you can do no wrong" mommas with no father figure in their lives and them being able to utilize their skill in college.   They lack the discipline, the work ethic and the mindset to handle the grind and being coached hard.   The sense of entitlement is too overwhelming to overcome for them.

The "momma bear" protection that has done them a disservice, along with the absence of tough love, makes for a very tough combination.

There are tons of examples of this phenomena, most recently with the WR post I made yesterday.

I guess if I'm being honest...this situation reaches far beyond football...

The dissolution of the nuclear family and the McDonaldization of divorce has probably hurt our society more than anything else in the last 60 years.

I should stop there.

Social Media and the iphone are the two worst inventions ever.  I bet the decline of the nuclear family and increasing divorce rate really took off when those two things started to blow up.  TEE was right.

Yet another thing we agree on.  No one even gets married anymore with that thought that it's not Amazon returnable.

As much as I hate to admit it...that's exactly right.   If nothing else, it's made cheating far easier and dangled eye candy in front of folks that wouldn't have otherwise seen it.

DawgNatty you are very right.    I have seen it a great deal.     I will say Trey Sermon's mama was a rare, strong, disciplined woman who made her son work his tail off for us at Sprayberry.

Oh, there are a few out there that are ruthless on making their sons the man they should be...and, there are others that can get them off the teet!

Yep. Truth, but better stop there.
