No more Athens Varsitys but there are 8 around Georgia.

A “hobo soda” was a glass of water

A PC was a chocolate milk with ice

“Joe” was black coffee and “white Joe,” was coffee with cream

Mayo was, “grease”

if you wanted apple and peach pie with a scoop of vanilla, you asked for an “Alamo”

A “C-dog,” was a regular hotdog with catsup

A “Chilli dog walking,” was a Chilli dog to go

A “naked dog walking” was simply a hot dog and a bun to go

A hamburger in Varsity vernacular was a “steak.”

If it was “glorified” or “through the garden,” that mean lettuce and tomato were added.

We could too but it was pretty much at the outer limit of bicycle range, which made it that much more of an adventure and made the food taste even better.  Our DQ didn't have indoor seating until I was in HS.  It had a covered area with ceiling fans and tables in the parking lot.  You had to order at a walk up window, no drive through.

The other DQ in town was about a mile from my grandmother's house.  My brother and I would walk to it when we stayed with her in the Summer.
