That is what we did.  Gave my daughter a check for the full amount we were willing to spend on a wedding and told her she could spend as much or as little of it as she wanted to.

To this day, I have no idea what was spent on the wedding.

We got taken to the cleaners TWICE on my daughter’s wedding.
First time, we had to pay the whole enchilada even though it was downsized dramatically because we were limited on guests because of all the Covid-BS restrictions. No “real” reception either people she/we wanted there.

But, then, a few months later, the venue said they’d give us a discount (and they did) on having a makeup wedding reception/party! Yeah, it cost us, but we hated not to do it for her and the people who missed out.
It was actually a great night.
But I still feel it’s my duty to bitch about it.

My daughter got an invite from Claire..she’s gonna be in Denver this weekend..can I show up with her invite like it’s a KA party? I promise I’ll be like Tony Soprano and give an envelope.
