Air Force One is actually two Boeing 747s, flying since 1987.

Both suffer from metal fatigue and outdated avionics.

Obama and Biden begged Boeing to replace the planes with new aircraft. Biden's White House begged The Saudis and The Emirates to gift or loan a newer 747 for US usage, per the Emirates Prime Minister.

Trump got the gift arranged.

It is not a matter of politics, but an issue with horribly mismanaged Boeing and a business accommodation among partners, customers, and suppliers.

There has been an order for replacement planes but Boing is behind schedule (shocking) on this order. During Trump's first term, he negotiated the price of the order down to a more affordable price.

Air Force One is not any particular plane. Any Air Force aircraft on which the president is a passenger is designated Air Force One.

In the beginning, Boeing was run by a lot of engineers who wanted to build the best planes in the world. As some of those guys cycled out, they were replaced by more management/accounting types who were more focused on the bottom line. Quality has suffered ever since
