ATHENS, Ga. – The 12th-seeded Georgia Bulldogs defeated 13th-seeded Kentucky, 8-0, in five innings to open play at the SEC Tournament at Jack Turner Stadium on Tuesday. Before Kentucky had even gotten a Georgia batter or runner out in the bottom of the first inning Tuesday, the Wildcats had gathered in the circle at Jack Turner Stadium for meetings three times, coach Rachel Lawson had visited twice, and there had even been a pitching change. At the end of a lengthy and productive first, the Bulldogs had a 3-0 lead in the first game of the SEC softball tournament.Georgia advances to play fifth-seeded Arkansas on Wednesday. Game Five of the SEC Tournament between Georgia and Arkansas will square off 35 minutes following the conclusion of the 11 a.m. game.

ATHENS, Ga. — Jeremiah Wilkinson, the 2025 ACC Sixth Man of the Year for Cal, has signed to join the Georgia Bulldogs for the 2025-26 season, head coach Mike White announced on Tuesday. Wilkinson, a 6-1, 185-pound guard from Powder Springs, Ga., was tabbed as the ACC's best player off the bench and also named to the ACC All-Rookie team after averaging 15.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 27.3 minutes of action per game for the Golden Bears. He posted double-figure scoring tallies in 25 contests, including 18 of 20 ACC contests, and also notched 10 20-point performances and a pair of 30-point outbursts.

LUBBOCK, Texas —Chantal El Chaib concluded her collegiate career at the NCAA Lubbock Regional on Tuesday, posting a 75 in the final round to finish with a 54-hole score of 232. El Chaib finished the tournament with a tie for 51st in Lubbock.

ATHENS, Ga. --- Bulldog first-year hurdler Michelle Smith has been named the Southeastern Conference Women's Freshman of the Week for the third time following the LSU Invitational, according to a league announcement Tuesday. Smith approached her school record personal best with a 54.62 to grab the top collegiate finish (second overall) in the 400-meter hurdles in Baton Rouge. This would still be the No. 4 time nationally and tops by a freshman behind her previous personal record.

ATHENS, Ga. – University of Georgia junior softball student-athlete Destin Howard has been appointed to the 2025 SEC Softball Community Service Team, the league announced Tuesday.
