Sorry for the late update. We’ve been busy with the transplant phase of treatment.
We were admitted to UAMS on 3/6/25 to begin transplant prep work. The transplant date was 3/12/25 and all went well. They then gave me one more round of chemo to make sure there were no more bad cells hanging out somewhere. This chemo is the really bad stuff and completely kicked my butt…and still is. This is by far the worst chemo I‘ve had throughout this process. I didn’t eat for two weeks. Your body is craving nutrition, but the mere thought of eating anything will make you throw up. Between starving, the pain and just the sleep deprivation of lying in a hospital bed for over a month will put you in a dark place.
Finally, my blood markers hit the desired levels so they released me on 4/2/25. We had to find a place within ten minutes of the hospital – which is another miracle how that all came together. We have to go in for lab work seven days a week, but just being out of the hospital has been the best treatment yet. Still have to be here another two months, but I’m negotiating hard for an early release for good behavior.
We got the latest bone marrow biopsy results this week and it shows I’m still in complete remission and the graft-hosting is going well. They will continue to monitor these levels for the next several weeks/months with hopes of going home ahead of schedule.
