I survived the Hugo bowl, 50mph winds and six inches of rain at game time. Those portable ESPN lights were swaying. Good friend of mine played RT for Middle Tennessee. Said it was the funnest game he ever played even though they lost. My garbage bag poncho did not survive.

The pussification has increased exponentially since then.  Momma's aren't going to let precious get rained on or wind blown.

I remember the thunderstorm in Athens during the 1983 UCLA game.  It rained so hard you couldn't see the other side of the field and the lightning was like flash bulbs going off.  I had a nylon pullover that I thought was a raincoat.  It was not.  I was soaked to the skin within about 3 minutes.  That was my last season as a student.

Before the game, we walked down and talked to the UCLA cheerleaders.  They all looked like supermodels.  They said they were staying in Atlanta and had ridden over on buses for the game and were going back to Atlanta right after the game.  They all talked about the humidity, said they had never experienced anything like it before.  The guy cheerleaders were pretty cool.  They all said they thought the campus was incredible and were really impressed with the tailgating they saw.  It was a rare night game and the tailgating and partying that day had been epic.
