4-star quarterback 2027 Colton Nussmeier younger brother of LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier, has found a home for this high school football season.
According to Rivals’ national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman on Thursday, the Georgia Bulldogs’ quarterback commitment is transferring to Metairie (La.) Archbishop Rummel for the 2026 campaign, leaving Denton (TX) Ryan, where he was denied eligibility.
Nussmeier’s father, Doug, is the offensive coordinator for the NFL’s New Orleans Saints.
The UIL State Executive committee voted early last month and ruled Nussmeier ineligible to play football at Denton Ryan for the 2026 Texas high school football season. At a DEC hearing in June, Nussmeier was ruled ineligible for varsity high school football due to transferring for athletic reasons.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound four-star signal caller had joined a talented Denton (TX) Ryan squad that last high school football season that won 13 games a year ago and brings back plenty of experience on the offensive side of the ball.
Last season at Marcus, Nussmeier played in eight games for the Marauders and completed 100 of 167 passes for 1,390 yards, 12 touchdowns and only one mere interception. Nussmeier can also run the rock and rushed for 278 yards on 45 carries and scored three times.
The youngest Nussmeier joins a Archbishop Rummel program, ranked No. 6 in the state per Massey Rankings, that features several of Louisiana high school football’s top athletes, including Tulane running back commitment Jaden Terrance and 2027 athlete Jaylan Ash.
