Georgia football has added a new position to Kirby Smart’s support staff, with a familiar name returning to the school to fill the role.
Matt Hibbs, who served as the CEO of the Classic City Collective, was hired recently as director of roster strategy.
Hibbs left the NIL-focused Classic City Collective, which has since shut down, in early 2025 to become executive vice president of Pathway Sports and Entertainment, which also is in the NIL space.
He will be paid $300,000 annually in his new job with Georgia.
Hibbs' return to Georgia comes after UGA deputy athletic director Steven Drummond was hired by the Atlanta Falcons in late March. His duties included working with brands, donors and creating opportunities for athletes.
Hibbs also served previously as an assistant athletic director in compliance at Georgia, as an agent for Athletes First sports agency, and the Director of Barstool Athletes at Barstool Sports. He’s worked at Miami, Tennessee and Ohio State.
Hibbs is expected to lead the development and execution of both short-term and long-term roster strategy for Georgia football.
Smart said last month that Georgia has "no issues" in resources to land a player out of the transfer portal or from high school.
"That's probably more wrestling of that, more in-house for us, how we want our roster to look, how we want our money to be spread across," Smart said. "We put our money where we think it’s best and put the best product we can on the field.”
