With Love for Uncle John Always!Woof .....
ATHENS, Ga. --- Utah Utes outfielder Jet Gilliam has committed to transferring to the Georgia Bulldogs. Gilliam will be a massive addition to the Dawgs’ lineup in 2027, and the senior could quickly begin to shine in Athens next season. Gilliam was a star throughout his one and only season at Utah in 2026. The talented outfielder was credited with a .362 batting average while also hitting six home runs.
Georgia landed former Oregon star Naulivou Lauaki Jr. on Monday evening. Lauaki chose Georgia over Mississippi State and Florida. He hit .321, 14 home runs and drove in 37 runs in 2025. Those home runs weren't just any home runs though as many of them were moon shots that would've been a home run in any ball park in the country. He may just have the most power out of any hitter in all of college baseball. Lauaki is a massive human being. It isn't very often that you find a 6-foot-5, 265-pound monster that chooses to play baseball, but that is what Johnson has found in Lauaki.
Georgia has also landed Wichita State pitcher Matt Cuccias. Cuccias transferred to Wichita State from Glendale Community College. He started 20 games there before stepping in at Wichita State and started 15 games in 2026. Cuccias went 4-3 with an 3.53 ERA. Cuccias had 76 strikeouts in 74 innings.
Georgia is looking to replace a ton of run production. It took a big step toward that recently with the addition of former Indiana first baseman Jacob Hanley. He ranks No. 2 on 64Analytics transfer portal board. Hanley started every game for two years at Indiana, 110 games in total. He hit .338 on the year with 14 home runs and drove in 48 runs in 2026. The season also saw him score 56 runs while racking up 71 hits and 14 doubles. He also hit .359 in conference play. He’s also an on-base machine. Hanley’s on-base percentage in 2026 was .448, a slight improvement over his showing as a freshman in 2025 of .429. In two seasons with the Hoosiers, Hanley has taken 76 walks while hitting 28 home runs and driving in 100 runs. His career OPS (on-base + slugging percentage) is 1.038.
Their additions propelled Georgia to the No.1 Transfer Portal class ranking, and if Johnson can stay there next season could be just as special as this past year was.
NEW YORK, N.Y.-----University of Georgia junior catcher Daniel Jackson completed a historic sweep of national awards after being named the 2026 Golden Spikes Award recipient, during a live broadcast on MLB Network Monday. The Golden Spikes Award goes to the nation's top amateur baseball player who best exhibits exceptional on-field ability, exemplary sportsmanship and character, and an overall positive contribution to the sport. Jackson becomes Georgia's second winner in a three-year span, joining Charlie Condon in 2024 after his record-setting season. Georgia is the only school to ever have a pair of winners in a three-year period. Jackson claimed three major awards while in Omaha during the CWS earlier this month. Jackson received the prestigious Dick Howser Trophy as the nation's top Division 1 player, the Buster Posey Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award and the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award. The other two finalists for the Golden Spikes Award were Roch Cholowsky (UCLA, SS) and Landon Hairston (Arizona State, OF).
