At the end of basic training in fall of ‘70 at the last formation where the DIs announce each person’s  orders for their next post, some had orders to Ft. Leonard Wood & the 1st one that came up the DI said his name & “MP school…Ft. Leonard Wood…..men….that’s the a**hole of the world!”

Stepfather went to Ft. Leonard Wood for AIT in the winter of '69.  He said everyone thought they would be sent to Korea because Leonard Wood was supposed to be the same terrain and climate as Korea.  The sergeants there made a big deal of the fact that only 1 in 10 soldiers went to Vietnam.  My stepfather and everyone in his unit went to Vietnam.

He also didn't care much for Ft. Leonard Wood.
