ATHENS, Ga. - Georgia (4-0, 2-0 SEC) checks in at No. 2 in the AP and Coaches poll for the fourth straight week. The Bulldogs are averaging an NCAA-best 54.8 points a game. The defense is allowing just 13.3 points a game (T1st in the SEC/18th nationally). The Bulldogs brought in only nine scholarship transfers this year, the fewest in the SEC. Up next, Georgia plays host to Vanderbilt (3-1, 0-1 SEC) for Homecoming. Georgia leads series 61-20-2 and won last six meetings. Georgia is outscoring its opponents 63-0 in the first quarter and 133-12 in the first half. For the season, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 219-53. Georgia's 219 points is the most after four games to start a UGA season since 1910 (237). Georgia will celebrate Homecoming Saturday, and the Bulldogs are 83-18-2 on Homecoming. In 2026, Georgia's opponents are averaging only 50.5 rushing yards/game, which ranks 3rd nationally. Also, the Bulldogs have 11 sacks for 95 yards.

Senior All-SEC specialist Peyton Woodring, a native of Lafayette, La., is a three-time Lou Groza Award semifinalist. In the win over #24 OU, he made a couple of field goals from 40+ yards and set the SEC and Georgia record for Consecutive PATs Made in a career. Currently, he is 201-for-201. The old marks belonged to Rodrigo Blankenship (200). The NCAA mark for Consecutive PATs made is 233 (Alex Trilca, Texas Tech).

Cole, a native of Salem, Va., tallied eight tackles, including a sack, and recovered two fumbles, featuring one return for an 85-yard touchdown. 

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Georgia senior outside hitter Bianna Muoneke has been named the Southeastern Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. 

FORT WORTH, Tx. - JD Culbreth leads Georgia tied for fifth and carding 3-under 70 in two rounds of the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational. Bulldogs finished round one and two of the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational tied for 11th.

“I know a fellow named Todd. I met him in one of the commercial food classes I took a while back. Todd was reserved, but he was a nice guy. He had a good smile. He was always willing to help. And he was trying very hard to make friends.”

He would join conversations. Start conversations. Look for opportunities to meet people.

But somehow, he was usually alone.


Then, a couple of days ago, I bumped into him again.

This time, Todd was coming out of a street cafe with some others.

He was laughing, seemed confident, and looked like completely at home.

We greeted each other and after a little chatter I couldn't control my curiosity and asked, "Todd, what happened? "

With a smile he gave me an answer I haven't stopped thinking about.

“Bob, I stopped chasing the butterflies with a net. Instead, I created a garden where they could come and relax with me.”

By butterflies, he meant friends.

I thought that was beautiful.

Yet the more I thought about it, the more I realized Todd wasn't really talking about friendship.

He was talking about the kind of person he had become.

Perhaps friendship begins with becoming someone, people feel good being around.

Think about the people you naturally gravitate toward.

It isn't necessarily the funniest person in the room, or the most interesting, or the person with the largest circle of friends.

Often, it's simply someone who makes you feel good.

Someone who listens without constantly preparing their own reply, or remembers the little thing you mentioned weeks ago.

Who can celebrate your happiness without making it about themselves, can sit quietly with you when there isn't anything particularly clever to say.

Someone who cares.

And perhaps that is what makes a person lovable, not being remarkable, but being generously interested in other people.

We spend so much time wondering:

How do I make more friends?

Maybe the more interesting question is:

What is it like to be my friend?

There is something powerful about becoming a loving person.

You listen a little more carefully, become curious about people, remember names, forgive small things, and notice.

You become less interested in impressing people and more interested in understanding them.

And somewhere along the way, something changes.

People begin to feel comfortable around you.

They call, tell you things, stay a little longer.

They invite you along, not because you chased them.

Because being around you feels a little like sitting in a garden.

You give them room to breathe.

Maybe that is why some people seem to have friends everywhere they go.

It isn't always because they are exceptionally social.

Perhaps they have simply learned how to make other people feel welcome.

With a warm smile, a genuine question.

By offering a patient ear.

And a little kindness when nobody is watching.

Relationships are often built from these tiny things.

A friendship rarely arrives fully grown.

It starts much smaller. With a conversation, or a shared laugh, a cup of coffee.

Sometimes it also can start when someone remembers something about you.

Someone saying, "I was thinking about you. "

I guess, Todd had it backwards at first.

When he began creating a better garden, one filled with warmth, a moment, kindness and genuine interest, he discovered something surprising.

The garden became more important than the butterflies.

Possibly that's true for all of us.

Because to have friends is always a joy, yet the best way to have more meaningful friendships isn't to spend our lives asking,

"Where can I find good people? "

Maybe it begins with asking,

"How can I become a good person to be found? "

BATON ROUGE, La. – The University of Georgia soccer team only tallied one shot on frame Sunday evening at LSU but made the most of the opportunity with a late equalizer from sophomore defender Maddy Herniter, earning a 1-1 draw before 612 spectators at LSU Soccer Stadium. Georgia returns home to face Texas A&M (4-7-0, 0-4-0 SEC) on Friday, Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Turner Soccer Complex.

VANDY Records - Both universities are founding members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), with a total of 83 meetings. This rivalry is both Georgia and Vanderbilt's fourth longest football rivalry. Georgia leads the series 61–20–2. Now Georgia has won 53 times in my 65 years on earth. I read where Auburn just pulled even with Vandy all time record. Vandy led Georgia at first 8-1-1 up until 1923. Vandy led all time series 14-11-1 until Vince Dooley got here in 1964. He then promptly went 21-1-1 up until 1988. Ray Goff lost twice (5-2) and CMR lost twice (14-2). Even CKS lost once (6-1) but we got 6 in a row now. It's homecoming.
