8 more SEC games would surely result in at least one compelling game but I can't really blame ESPN for not wanting to pay substantially more, they have a contract in place. The SEC not expanding to 9 games in a 16 team conference seems like a bad idea regardless of what ESPN does to me. The difference was; we played Clemson, SC, Texas A&M and a decent tech team as out of conference games at Sanford. The only "cupcake" game was TCU. Back then, the idea of playing UT Martin, Samford, Ball State, Southern, etc. was never even a consideration.
